Austin had his 9 month check-up this week. The doctor said he is a very healthy boy. He weighed in at 21 lbs 13 oz (75th percentile) and 30 inches (95th percentile). No shots (thank goodness), but he did get a toe prick to check his blood 'stats'. He was such a trooper, no crying at all. He just looked at the nurse like "Hey, why did you do that?". The doctor made it sound like his levels were better than she usually sees. He was very friendly, so she was pleased with his social development as well.
It has been a while since my last post. Since then we have had his Jesus Lambs egg hunt, Reagan's 1st Birthday Party and Easter. He enjoyed shaking the eggs at the egg hunt. He wasn't quite ready for it, so I'm sure next year will be much more fun. The party was very nice, Carolyn and Anne always do such a great job. Later that afternoon was Reagan's birthday party. Austin had a good time playing with the other kids. He got to ride in a swing for the first time. He LOVED it!
Last weekend was Easter. Austin's favorite item in his Easter basket was the grass, of course. Why do we ever bother buying toys, when wrapping paper, boxes, tissue paper and shredded paper are so much more entertaining? He got a Sesame Street book in his basket title 'Nighty Night', we've been reading it this week. He seems to like it much more that the others. I think it is because the pictures are so big they look like they are really looking at him. He also got a ball, bunny with a football, crocodile Amazing Animal and rattle. His Grammie got him a basket as well. In that he got another Sesame Street book, chirping plush chick, and a cup with a soft straw.
This week we went for a walk. We went to the Elementary School across the street from our neighborhood. Austin got to swing (in mommy's lap) and go down the slide. You would think it would scare him, but not at all. He really loved it. That same afternoon we took him in the back yard and introduced him to grass. I know that seems weird, that he is 9 months old and has never been on grass. We took the opportunity to get some snaps.
Here are a few snaps for your viewing pleasure.
